In 2010, Jasper Engines & Transmissions became a 100% Associate-Owned company, adopting an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The stock price was initially offered at $2.30 per share; at the end of 2023, each share holds a value of $1,123.90. We have distributed in excess of $609M in stock to our Associate-Owners. Over the years, Jasper Holdings, Inc. (JHI) has acquired many highly respected companies with high standards who embrace continuous improvement and are willing to share their best practices. Doug Bawel
Chairman of the Board, Jasper Holdings, Inc. and Jasper Engines & Transmissions
Education: University of Evansville, BS in Management
In 1976, Doug joined Jasper Engines & Transmissions as a sales trainee, then became the advertising manager, sales manager, and vice president. The company was purchased in 1987, and he was elected president. In 1989, JASPER became involved with NASCAR, and in 2001, Doug partnered with Roger Penske to form Penske Jasper Engines.
Penske Jasper Racing was formed in 2003 and sold in 2009 to Penske to focus on producing NASCAR Transmissions. On March 2, 2010, Doug announced that Jasper Engines and Transmissions had become a 100% ESOP company. He became the chairman and CEO of Jasper Holdings, Inc. (JHI) when it was later established. In 2023, JHI employed 4,300+ Associates, recorded $1.1 Billion in revenue, and was valued at $1.6 Billion. Since the ESOP‘s inception, JHI has distributed over $609 Million in stock.
Additional Information:
Doug is a recipient of the Indiana Business Leader Award, the Indiana Corporate Leadership Award, and Entrepreneur of the Year for Manufacturing. He is also the president of Patoka Valley Health Care Cooperative (30,000 Members) and a board member of OFS Brands.
Zach Bawel
President, Jasper Holdings, Inc.
Education: Indiana University, School of Business, BS in Finance
After college, Zach started with Jasper Engines & Transmissions in their sales training program. In his 37 years with JASPER, he held positions throughout the sales and distribution side of the business. He was vice president of sales for 12 years before becoming involved in manufacturing and served as president and COO from 2011 to 2022. Zach is currently the president of JHI, the parent company of Jasper Engines & Transmissions, Jasper Electric Motors, Jasper Innovative Solutions, Weller Truck, D&W Diesel, Diesel USA Group, and Jer-Den Plastics. He has served on the JHI Board of Directors since its inception in 2010. Today, JHI has become the 33rd largest ESOP in the United States.

Zach has served on the German American Bank Corp Board of Directors since 2018, is a member of the WireCrafters Advisory Board, serves on the Brake Supply Board, and serves on the Lochmueller Group Board, which is a 100% ESOP company.
Matt Weinzapfel
President/COO, Jasper Engines & Transmissions
Education: University of Evansville, BS in Business Administration
Matt currently serves as president and COO at Jasper Engines and Transmissions. He began his career with JASPER in 1994 and served in various roles within the company‘s manufacturing, distribution, and process improvement groups before joining the Executive Team in 2011.
Additional Information:
Matt is a past president of the Production Engine Remanufacturer‘s Association. In addition to serving on the JHI Board, he currently serves on the boards of Regional Opportunity Initiatives, the Vincennes University Jasper Community Advisory Committee, and the HUB 19 education and industry partnership.
Jason Kelly
CFO, Jasper Holdings, Inc.
Education: Purdue University, BS in Management and Marketing; Indiana University, MBA in Public Accountancy
His professional career has included roles as a controller and CFO in the home building and real estate development industries, president and CEO roles in the multi-concept franchise restaurant industry, and president of a pharmacy benefit management company before joining JHI as CFO in 2020. Jason has over 15 years of experience working for
ESOP companies. His deep background in real estate, banking, information technology, and finance is a great strength to JHI.

Jason serves on the German American Bank Corp Board, a regional community bank servicing southern Indiana and Kentucky.
Terry Stranz
President/COO, Weller Truck Parts
Terry Stranz’s 37-year career in heavy-duty drivetrain remanufacturing is underpinned by 32 years of dedicated service at Weller. His journey with the company is marked by a series of progressive leadership roles, showcasing his versatility and commitment to excellence. His career at Weller began when he took on the role of manufacturing team leader before moving to inside sales/customer service. He then served as a store manager of Weller’s South Bend, IN, and Gaylord, MI, locations. Through his leadership and dedication to customer satisfaction, Terry progressed to regional store manager for eight years and then to national sales manager for another eight years. His leadership skills were further recognized as he took on the roles of vice president and, at present, president and COO.

Terry has served on the JHI Board of Directors for five years. His expertise is further solidified by his certification in Heavy-Duty Drivetrain from the State of Michigan, which underlines his technical proficiency and industry recognition. Terry has demonstrated leadership and strategic vision throughout his tenure at Weller, driving operational excellence and building strong customer relationships.
Kevin R. Koch
President/CEO, Koch Enterprises, Inc.
Education: University of Notre Dame, BS in Metallurgical Engineering; Indiana University, MBA
Kevin Koch, the President and CEO of Koch Enterprises, Inc., brings a wealth of diverse experience to his role. Koch Enterprises is a holding company that operates seven industrial businesses and employs 2,800+ team members.
Prior to his current position, he served in various capacities within the Koch Enterprises family of companies, starting in 1999. These roles included president and CEO of Brake Supply Company and several management positions at Gibbs Die Casting Corporation. Before joining Koch Enterprises, he gained valuable experience in engineering, purchasing, and marketing at Electronic Data Systems (now HP), Ford Motor Company, and Westinghouse (now Siemens). Kevin‘s current role also extends to serving on the boards of Koch Enterprises, its subsidiaries, and JHI. Additional Information: Kevin serves on numerous non-profit boards and was chairman of the 2017 United Way of Southwestern Indiana campaign.
Alan Taylor
(Advisor to the Board) – CPA; Managing Director, FORVIS
Education: University of Kentucky, BS in Accounting; Western Kentucky University, MBA in Accounting
Much of Alan‘s career has focused on assisting privately held middle-market companies to develop and implement ownership succession plans. Alan led the practice development team for an intentional process designed to help business owners develop a comprehensive succession and continuity plan to achieve financial security for their businesses, families, and futures. He also previously led the firm‘s ESOP advisory practice. Alan has been responsible for structuring and facilitating more than 150 ESOP transactions, making most of those companies 100 percent ESOP-owned. Alan also works with existing ESOPs in matters ranging from acquisition structuring to repurchase planning and analysis.

Alan also serves as the audit quality leader for the firm‘s Tennessee practice unit. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants, The ESOP Association, the National Center for Employee Ownership, and Employee-Owned S Corporations of America.
Dave Hawkins
Shorehill Capital LLC
Education: Indiana University, BS in Finance, Minor in Psychology; Northwestern University, MM from Kellogg School of Management
Dave is a veteran of the finance profession, having started his career as a corporate lender and then progressing to private equity investing in April 1994. He is the Managing Partner of Shorehill Capital LLC, a Chicago-based private equity firm focused on control equity investments in lower-middle market industrial companies. During his private equity career, Dave has been active in all aspects of private equity, including investment origination, evaluation, and portfolio company management. Additionally, he actively participates in capital raising for both debt and equity financing, having participated in over $6 Billion in transactions during his career.

Dave has participated on numerous for-profit boards during his career, currently sitting on six boards. Additionally, Dave has served on various non-profit boards over the years.
